At Skidi Siberians we are dedicated to providing
healthy, loving companions and/or winning showdogs to appropriate homes who are willing to
make a commitment for THE LIFE OF THE DOG! If you are not willing to make
this kind of commitment, please go elsewhere!
General information:and answers to
frequently asked questions:
1) All breeding stock is AVCO eye checked clear of hereditary eye defect and SHOR
registered.
2) Pet puppies come with a replacement guarantee should the dog be diagnosed by an
ACVO veterinarian as going blind due to hereditary defect such as juvenile cataracts, PRA,
corneal dystrophy, OR become crippled because of hip dysplasia as diagnosed by xray.
3) Show or Racing prospect puppies come with a replacement guarantee should the dog
be diagnosed as having an hereditary eye defect or hip dysplasia, or if it becomes
unsuitable for show or breeding because of other hereditary defect. Eye and hip checks
must be completed by age 28 months. This guarantee becomes null and void if the dog has
been bred and produced puppies.
4) All pet puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract requiring the dog be altered
by the age of one year. They can be registered with AKC on LIMITED registration.
5) Pet puppies are generally priced at $300. Show prospect puppies are generally
priced at $600. Anyone buying a show prospect is expected and required to seriously show
the dog. I ask for a $100 deposit to reserve a puppy, and buyers make their choices
in the order they paid the depposit. The deposit applies to the total purchase price. It
is nonrefundable should the buyer change his/her mind. In the event I do not have a
suitable puppy available, it will be refunded.
6) The difference between a show prospect and pet puppy is usually something
cosmetic such as a too tightly curled tail, too long and soft a coat, or (in males) an
undescended testicle. These puppies are equally healthy and make wonderful loving
companions.
7) Puppies are not ready to go to their new homes before 8 weeks, or 9 weeks if they
are traveling by air. They will have been wormed several times and have had at least 1
shot. I ask that the puppy be taken to a veterinarian for a check-up within 48
hours of leaving my premesis unless it was shipped via air. (Those pups are checked prior
to shipping.)
I have some questions for potential puppy buyers. If you copy
and paste these questions into an email along with your answers, it would greatly expedite
our conversation.
1) What experience, if any, have you had with the breed?
2) Why do you want a Siberian?
3) What do you plan to do with the dog?
4) What facilities (such as fenced yard) do you have for your dog?
5) What are your preferences in sex and color? Are you willing to take a different
sex or color if your first choice is not available? NOTE: I seldom get blue-eyed
puppies, so don't expect them.
6) Do you under stand that Siberians are active dogs needing exercise, that they are
pack animals and need companionship, that they are not good guard dogs since they are very
friendly to everyone, that they dig, shed, howl (but not bark,) and that they are NOT
trustworthy off leash and MUST be kept confined at all times?
