Helping Our Own - I CANNOT say enough about these people. They gather surplus equipment from fire departments that don't need it and deliver it free of charge to other fire departments that do need it. If your department is replacing something that is still serviceable, be it lights, sirens, boots, nozzles, hose, airpacks, helmets, turnout gear, PASS devices, or fire trucks, PLEASE get in touch with Helping Our Own. They will make sure that your surplus gets put to good use. They have that pesky old liability thing whipped, also, so don't be shy.

Broughton Firefighters, Manchester, UK - Webmaster Neil Constantine emailed us and advised that he had placed a link to OUR site on HIS site. We were happy to reciprocate. This site will give you an insight into how our brothers and sisters do things in the United Kingdom (other than the obvious UK things, like they drive on the wrong side of the road, drink warm beer, their light switches are upside down, they speak something called "English", and their Special Air Service guys are the best in the world).
This site has over 1100 links to other fire department web sites.

F22 Poplar Fire Station, London - Our popularity is growing with the Brits, it seems. Steve Dudeney of F22 Poplar sent a couple of emails absolutely brimming with dry British wit.
(Everyone knows that Heaven can best be described as "British humor, French food, and German technology". I'm also told that Hell can be described as "British food, French technology, and German humor", but since I have never actually experienced British food, I don't have an opinion. To experience British humor, go here - PythOnline).
That's Steve in the space helmet in the above pic doing "hands across the water" with Chris Mandeville of Ladder 40 FDNY. Stout fellows well met.
Anyway, you GOTTA LOVE a station that responds to 850 rubbish fires a year. I enjoy visiting British fire department sites, especially those from the London area. I figure these people must really know what they're doing since London has been there since WAY BEFORE the first English settlers set foot over here in the Colonies. They left from Poplar in 1606, by the way.
(Speaking of which, I understand THEIR version of our little conflict a few years later differs from ours somewhat. It will be interesting to explore that one of these days.)
And, along with everyone else in the London area, we can thank these guys for Elizabeth Hurley.

Hartland Volunteer Fire Co - Proudly serving the Town of Hartland, NY since 1970. When they started up, their oldest truck was a 1944 model. It was only 26 years old. Our oldest truck is 42 years old.

White Settlement Fire Department - Just because.

Prairie DuPont Fire Department - This website was recommended to us by a friend. We checked it out, and lo and behold, they had a pumper for sale. We bought it. Our first real fire truck. It used to be Prairie DuPont Engine 165. Now it's Silver City 202:

Silver City (Nevada) Volunteer Fire Department - What can we say? With so many different places called Silver City, it's only logical that at least ONE MORE of them would have their fire department on the web. These guys have been around longer than we have. We wish we owned that wildland fire engine in the background.
Bill's Worthwhile Links - These have nothing to do with anything remotely connected to the fire service, but I feel compelled to share these with you here. Check them out. You'll be glad you did.
