Old Mannford Marker
and Site

The Old Mannford Marker is near the Old Mannford Townsite where Mann’s Ford crossed the Cimarron River in 1903.  The town began as a stockyard for the shipment of beef on the new railroad.  The town was in Indian Territory from 1903 to 1908.

         Excerpt from Mannford Eagle 1982:
$400 Bought Mannford's Original Townsite Lease

On September 24, 1902 an agricultural lease was created to continue the verbal contract that was made on April 27, 1895.  This lease was a very important piece of history to Mannford citizens because by 1906 this same lease became the original Mannford Town Site.  W. J. and Betty Mann were the main signees of the contract paying a mere $400 for the 480 acres.  G. M. Evans and his family lived in a log cabin in the Creek Nation that soon became the Mannford Town Site.
